Test shoot Chelsea Hotel New York

Here are some more shots from my test shoot at the chelsea hotel in New York last month. This was a really fun shoot and the black and white really suits the images and the kind of story we were trying to get across. Thanks to Serita M you were great to work with and the shots look really cool and hope to work with her again when I am next over that way.
Coney Island Test Shoot

These are some shots from a recent test shoot on Coney Island which is in Brooklyn, New York. The area was formerly an amusement park and major resort which reached its peak early in the 20th century but declined in popularity after world war 2 and has since endured years of neglect. It is a really strangely cool place and has heaps of grit and colour and diversity. A very fun place to shoot and an experience I will never forget.
Shoot at Red Hill

This is a recent test shoot up in red hill about 2 hours out of melbourne. Thanks to Laura Devries for the styling and wardrobe, Alison Larwood for the hair and makeup and to the model Chantel de Latour. The idea was to produce an editorial type of story that really captured the spontaneity, fun, soul and romance of the environment and I think this shows in the shots. Many of the clothes were designed by Laura and were a part of her graduate collection for RMIT. Thanks also to the Dawson family for the use of their Beautiful property and horses.

These are some shots from a recent test shoot at the chelsea hotel in New York. The Chelsea hotel has a very rich and chequered history of famous guests including Bob Dylan, Arthur Miller (who lived there for a number of years), Jack Kerouac (who is rumoured to have written his famous novel On the Road while staying there), Sid Vicious is another to have stayed there and is believed to have stabbed his girlfriend Nancy Spungen in one of the roooms, Poets Allen Ginsberg and Gregory Corso used it as a place of philosophical exchange and Dylan Thomas who died of alcohol poisoning while living there.
It is a place well worth checking out and even staying for anyone who is in New York and it has a very inspiring sort of energy. I am processing more pics from the shoot so stay tuned for more.
Statin Island HDR Test!!
Statin Island HDR test!
This is a shot I took on statin island this week and using the HDR pro merge tool in photoshop. It is five seperate exposures merged together to achieve this beautiful effect. For anyone wanting to try it use a tripod and a cable release to ensure the camera does not move at all and thats it. Have some fun with it and see what you can do. This is my second go and it seems to work best with a really contrasty scene. I will post more samples as I do them and see what I can come up with.
